Event Details

All of the Food Chain Workers Alliance (FCWA) member organizations that are based in the Bay Area will come together for a panel presentation to recognize the Annual International Food Workers Week, on Wednesday, November 16, hosted by Food First, at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley, from 6:30-8:30pm. The address is 3105 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley, California 94705.

We will show the short video made by FCWA, “Voices of the Food Chain,” and unveil the new report “No Piece of the Pie: U.S. Food Workers in 2016.” This new report discusses the state of food workers in the U.S. in 2016 and shares solutions to addressing the problems they face. Then, each group will talk a bit about the conditions their members encounter, their current campaigns, and what members of the audience – and beyond – can do to stand up for and support workers in the food chain.

Members of the panel will be Dominic Ware of OUR Walmart, Doug Bloch from Teamsters Joint Council 7, Sophia Miyoshi of Restaurant Opportunities Center of the Bay, Sarah Cain from California Institute for Rural Studies, and a representative from Young Workers United. Eric Holt-Giménez, Executive Director of Food First, and Advisory Committee Member of FCWA, will be the moderator.
