FOOD WORKERS RISING 2021

Each November, FCWA’s “Food Workers Rising” week of action highlights critical worker-led campaigns from across our membership and beyond. This year, from November 17-26, we will be sharing important food worker fights and calls-to-action that you can support. Some of these actions are national in scope, and some may be happening in your own community!

As year two of the COVID-19 pandemic comes to a close, food workers are still on the front lines without protections. In June, the federal government declined to create mandatory health and safety guidelines for workers outside the healthcare sector, and millions of workers are still excluded from federal benefits or relief. Black, Brown, and undocumented communities have been disproportionately affected by the crisis, but are also more likely to be punished for raising safety concerns in the workplace.

Because the pandemic has highlighted the realities for food workers in the public consciousness, food workers have more visibility than ever before, and more momentum to fight for their rights.

You can build that momentum by supporting food workers and their organizing. Check back here for updates for daily actions and join the conversation online with #FoodWorkersRising
