October 16 is World Food Day! One billion people are hungry. To make it a Food Day for everyone in the world, we must turn our unjust food and farming system upside-down and focus our energy, organizing and resources on rebuilding local food economies — everywhere! That’s why FCWA is joining with the US Food Sovereignty Alliance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and food sovereignty movements locally and globally to fight against multinational corporations responsible for privatizing seeds and promoting chemical-dependent, industrial-scale forms of agriculture and fisheries that bankrupt, displace, and exploit fishers, farmers, farmworkers, and other food workers.
At the same time, we celebrate and are mobilizing to establish a rainbow array of diverse and resilient communities and sustainable farms and food businesses.

- Restaurant Opportunities Center of Los Angeles and a Capital Grille Restaurant worker
- UFCW Local 770, a Walmart worker, and a meatpacking worker
- UNITE HERE! and a food service worker
- Warehouse Workers United and a Walmart warehouse worker
