FOOD WORKERS RISING 2020

Food workers remain on the frontlines as COVID-19 continues to threaten our communities, their health and livelihoods. We know that it’s more important than ever to support food workers who are  organizing to defend and empower themselves and their communities today and beyond COVID-19.

Every November, FCWA uplifts important food worker-led campaigns through our Food Workers Rising days of action.  Starting today, and leading up to Nov. 26, FCWA will share and highlight important food worker fights and calls to action from across the food chain that you can participate in. Some of these actions might even be in your own communities! And if not, we’ll share ways you can support them from afar.

As the COVID-19 pandemic stretches into its seventh month, food workers are still on the front lines without protections. The federal government has failed to create mandatory health and safety guidelines for workers still on the job, and millions of workers have been excluded from federal benefits or relief. Black, Brown, and undocumented communities have been disproportionately affected by the crisis, but are also more likely to be punished for raising safety concerns in the workplace.

Our members have been tirelessly organizing for excluded worker funds, a voice on the job, and strong protections. Join us in lifting up essential food worker organizing.  Check back here for updates for daily actions and join the conversation online with #FoodWorkersRising
